This past week my teacher has been teaching us about explanations. Here's mine:
Sound is vibrations that travel through the air and can be heard when they reach a person's or animal's ear. We hear things because our ears have 3 bones called malleus, incus and stapes amplifying and there is the auditory nerve carrying electric waves to the brain which we then hear as sound.
Any sound louder than 85 Dbs is harmful to your hearing. The average conversation is about 60 dbs(decibels),The Average Rock concert is well over 100 Dbs and without proper protection that can lead to hearing loss and Tinnitus. Exposure to this level of volume for a couple of minutes can give rise to hearing damage.
For most upbeat jazz has “healing properties” that stop inconsequential rumination. Some examples of this are Girl from Ipanema,Minnie the Moocher,Mr Sandman,Hit the road Jack. It’s also said Jazz noir relaxes with its slow tempo resulting in lowered levels of cortisol and other stress-induced hormones. Although for some who are accustomed to swedish speed metal might find normal rock music relaxing since their usual taste is more “extreme” .
Of course music/sound isn’t all bad it’s helped many people through various types of music therapy such as guided therapy through music . Alan Turry says :the way each of us makes music can reveal something about us that a therapist can work with.”.
Music and sound are helpful to humans but not necessary to everyday life, deaf people may have hardships but they always work through hardships the same maybe better than we originally thought.
The vibrations in the air that we use to communicate is still slightly unknown to man as of yet ,each day we learn more about it.
Sound can be harmful in some instances like all things but it’s positive affirmations towards humans outweighs that.
