Unknown Vocabulary......and the Holocaust

 As you know my class were reading the Boy in the Striped by John Boyne. Some people were unaware of the vocab in the book so my teacher decided to assign us a vocabulary task. Here's mine

The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas

WALT: Find the meanings of words and use them in sentences to show the meanings of those words.

Bruno’s father is a concentration camp commandant 

Varnished

disguise or gloss over .

Father varnished over the fact that there were hundreds of people over the fence.

Enunciating

Express in clear terms

As Bruno stood tall doing the salute he’s done for years he said “Heil Hitler” enunciating the “Hitler”

Deliberately

Intentionally;on purpose

I deliberately threw a coin outside as a diversion. I then proceeded to sneak in the snack cupboard.

Resolved

Determined to do something

I resolved to eat all the Oreos in the house in one hour. This is not gonna be easy.

Fragment

An incomplete part of something.

I’m stuffed but I have succeeded in eating only a fragment of the snacks. I must continue.

These past few weeks we have been reading the boy in the striped pyjamas and we were given this as one of our activities for the week along with this we had to research about Hitler's last mistress Eva Braun.  Hope you enjoy!
